35 Weeks Pregnant: Settling head-down

Baby development

Your baby at 35 weeks

Your baby is getting snug in the uterus now, and there is much less extra room for dramatic movement. Many babies settle more into a head-down position around this stage if they have not already.

What you might be feeling at 35 weeks

The waiting game. Every twinge makes you wonder if this is it. Your baby is basically ready — just putting on weight. Finish your hospital bag, install the car seat, print your birth plan. Channel anxiety into preparation.

You're in the final five weeks, and the waiting can be agonizing. Every twinge makes you wonder, "Is this it?" With my fourth, I spent weeks 35 through 40 convinced labor was starting every time I felt a cramp. It rarely was. Your baby is basically ready now — just putting on weight and finishing lung development. This is a good time to finish your hospital bag, install the car seat, and make sure your birth plan is printed and packed. If you're feeling anxious about the birth, that's the most normal thing in the world. Channel that energy into preparation, not catastrophizing.
