6 Weeks Pregnant: As small as a lentil
Baby development
Your baby at 6 weeks
Tiny arm and leg buds are beginning to appear, and early facial features are starting to take shape. This is also around the time early circulation begins, which feels wild considering how little your baby still is.
Your body this week
What you might be feeling at 6 weeks
For many women, this is when symptoms really kick in. Nausea, exhaustion so heavy you can barely function, breast changes, bloating, and food aversions. You may find yourself checking for blood every time you use the bathroom — this is a common and understandable anxiety.

Week six is when it stopped being an idea and started being a reality for me — usually because the nausea showed up right on schedule. But with one of my pregnancies, I felt absolutely nothing at six weeks, and I was terrified. I kept thinking, "Shouldn't I feel something?" Here's what I know now that I didn't know then: symptoms come and go, and having a good day doesn't mean something is wrong. Your body is doing extraordinary work right now, even when you can't feel it. If you're checking for blood every time you go to the bathroom — I've been there too. Try to trust that your body knows what it's doing.

Common questions
6 weeks pregnant: your questions answered
My symptoms disappeared — should I worry? +
Symptoms can come and go, especially in early pregnancy. A day without nausea doesn't mean something is wrong. However, if all symptoms vanish suddenly, contact your provider for reassurance.
Is it normal to check for blood every time I use the bathroom? +
This is an extremely common behavior, especially in early pregnancy. Light spotting can be normal, but if you see bright red blood or heavy flow, call your provider immediately.
